FAQs

Where are you located?

Our focus is establishing house churches on the west side of Portland.  Our ministry office is housed in the facilities of First Baptist Church of Beaverton near downtown Beaverton.  Our house church locations are in Aloha,Beaverton, Hillsboro, and SW Portland.  Our Sunday g@therings are in the facilities of FBC Beaverton (where our office is).

Why do you meet in homes?

The house church model is based on the early church described in Acts 2:42-47.  We enjoy the sense ofcommunity and love sharing life with each other where life happens.  And we don’t want to allow a building to cause our growth or limit our growth.

Do you have a weekly service?

We have the g@thering on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (when applicable) Sundays each month, which is a time for our house churches to come together for worship and fellowship.  It is open to anybody who wants to worship with us and is not limited to those already involved in a house church.

What about kids?

Kids of any age are welcome if you feel they are able to participate and/or listen.  We also have a children’s church on Sunday mornings which is done in partnership with FBC Beaverton.  See the Westside Children’s Church page under Emerging Generations for more info.

Where did your name come from?

The name Emmaus Road, as well as our mission, comes from Luke 24:13-35 where Jesus came alongside two disciples on the road to Emmaus.  He met them where they were on their journey, and began traveling with them sharing His love and truth.  This resonates with our desire to journey with others and to help them become complete followers of Christ.
