our history

In the summer of 2000, God led three of us on a journey in forming a community of house churches on the westside of Portland. We didn’t know all we’d become, but we knew we wanted something Christ-centered, genuine, and life-changing or it really wasn’t worth our time. Along the way we’ve learned many things by trial and error about being in a community of house churches, but each lesson has added passion and wisdom to our steps.

One by one, God has brought others to join us on this journey. Some have come from a background of little or no church involvement, some from a negative experience of church. (You could say they had “given up on church, but not on God.”) Others have come because they enjoy the family environment of house churches, and some just wanted something different.

Together, we have become like a family, warmly accepting each new person God brings to journey with us. We are not perfect, but we are growing, seeking to realize all that God desires for us. We know that there are others out there—perhaps you are one of them—who desire this same kind of experience. If something inside of you is saying, “This could be for me,” we want to connect with you. You won’t be locked into anything by simply contacting us, so there’s really nothing to lose…but there may be much to gain.
